Can You Reheat Takeaway Rice in the UK?

If it is unclear how takeaway rice was cooked and stored before delivery, Food Standards Scotland advises against reheating it.

Why the history matters

Takeaway rice may already have been cooked, chilled and reheated by the business; an additional reheat can be unsafe.

Ask how it was prepared

If you want to keep takeaway rice, ask the business about its preparation, cooling and storage history before using any household storage reference.

Do not use a new 24-hour timer

The correct start time is not automatically the moment a takeaway box arrives. The cooked-rice calculator applies only when the actual preparation history is known.
